Woodlawn Involvement Ministry

Who we are as Christians cannot be restricted by our means of human definition.  God defines our limits and potential in our places of living through faith.  God renews and guides us daily in all circumstances through his Son.  We must stay in contact with God through the means of prayer, scripture, and fellowship.

The front of this bulletin professes that we are "A family of faith committed to glorifying God, serving through love, and sharing Christ with our World."  Yes, we are this family and so much more harnessed by the power of the cross as we light the world in places of darkness.  I am thankful for this statement in every bulletin, because it reminds us of who we are and not what we do.

We are challenged again this year with our 4th annual Thanksgiving Food drive.  Let us do our deeds from who we are in Christ Jesus with faith.  I pray that our efforts will not be a burden of giving, but of receiving the gift of giving from the heart of God.

Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.
- Philippians 4:17

We are also reminded in the bulletin that all of us make the ministry team.  My encouragement to you is that we team in this effort as the Lord’s Church.  You will find the scriptural notation of I Peter 2:9 on the back of the bulletin.  I ask that you read this scripture while looking into your heart knowing that God claims ownership of you in a holy and loving way.

You can be a person of God if you are not at this point in your life.  All of us, at one time were not this person of God, but now we are and would like to show you the way.

Mike Bailey

THANK YOU NOTES

Woodlawn Family,
Thank you for the food, calls and visits.  Most of all, thank you for your prayers.
I love you, Levona Macon

Thank you, Woodlawn, for the ivy, the cards, phone calls and thoughts.  And a special thanks to the ones who came to the funeral for my brother.
Mary Emerson

Martin Cooke called to say that he and Ruth are doing well right now and send everyone greetings.  They appreciate so much the visits from the group which meets on Monday nights.  And he wanted to especially thank the Ladies’ Class for the basket of "goodies" that was delivered recently.  "That sure was something."

(The following note came through Larry & Pat Gill)
Hello, how are y’all doin?  I’ve been doing great.  Just moved down to Alpine, Texas, where my family and friends are.  Feel real well and happy now that I’m close to family.  Helping my father out, working driving a concrete truck and making more than I was doing the same thing in Odessa.  Got good benefits and playing drums with my father and some friends to some ole country and western music... ya know, the old Hank Williams Sr. stuff.  Just wanted to drop a line to say hello and to keep in touch and God bless ya.
Love, William Mather

NEXT WEEK IS SECOND SUNDAY POTLUCK

Bring a favorite dish and your friends.  Plan to stay after morning services for a time of good food and good fellowship!

Announcements

Mike Galaway Jr. is reported to be doing well in Nashville and his knee surgery has been postponed until after Thanksgiving.

On the west table in the foyer are some photos from the Women’s Retreat earlier this year.  Feel free to take the ones you would like to have.

Coming Up!  As in Thanksgiving week of years past, we will have a mid-week devotional on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and there will be no Wednesday service the day before Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

As we have been blessed, we seek to bless others, not only spiritually but with the abundance that we recognize comes from God.  At this time of year we have made it a practice to fill boxes with food and share with those who are less fortunate than we.

On the table in the foyer are lists of foods needed to fill 75 boxes which will be distributed to those in need.  Please decide what you would like to donate and take the peel-off tabs with those items, so that we can get an indication of what will be brought and what still needs to be donated.

Fresh foods will be purchased later and you may donate by giving your financial gift to Mike Bailey or one of the elders.

Matthew 25:31-46
