My family and I are thankful to be members at Woodlawn.  All of you have been so hospitable and loving.  We are overwhelmed with your acceptance, understanding, and encouragement.

This place feels new for my family, but you are changing that in a way we have never experienced.  In many ways, it feels like we have always been here.  You are familiar to us even though many of us have never met.  We are working on all your precious names and thank you for your patience.

My initial experiences at Woodlawn remind me of a scripture found in Ephesians 4:1-6.  Our callings have brought us to a "oneness" here at Woodlawn, and I am overjoyed to be united with all of you in ministry.

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were called - one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

We are truly blessed to be a part of the work here with you.

MONDAY NIGHT FOR THE MASTER
Fall session begins next week, September 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.  Plan to come each Monday evening for a fellowship meal and outreach to the community as well as service to the church.

The family of Flora Bruton would like to invite all the Woodlawn church family to join in the celebration of her 90th Birthday on Saturday, September 11, 2004, in the Woodlawn Fellowship Hall.  This party will be "Come and Go" from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. with lots of cake and punch.  Please come by to visit with Flora and her family.  "No Gifts, Please!"

Ladies' Bible Class begins this Wednesday, September 8, 10 a.m. in Room 19.  All ladies of the congregation are invited to join us weekly for study and fellowship.  We also have lunch out together the second Wednesday of each month.  So we will go to lunch after class this week!!
