Woodlawn Children's Ministry

Wham!  Bang!  Boom!  The summer is here, and we're off to a BIG start.  We want to give tremendous thanks to God and our family at Woodlawn.  VBS was a great success.  Everyone worked hard to decorate and dress in the theme.  Our teachers went beyond our imagination by taking the activities and stories, bringing a breath of fresh creativity to the material.  The kids were excited and enjoyed themselves during the four nights.  We had wonderful attendance and could see joy and excitement in the children's faces.

Everyone worked so hard.  That is what our family does best, pulling together to have one of the most inspirational and exciting VBS in our history.  Woodlawn has a reputation of having the best VBS in town.  We would like to thank the puppeteers, Brad, Zach, and Jay; Chad, Shane and his van crew, teachers, wranglers, kitchen workers, registration workers, Nurse Cathy, Raymond the bell ringer, and all our church family for your support and prayers.

We had an encouraging follow-up of visits Monday night, and great attendance of 26 for our first activity Thursday.  Ask Alex how to swing a golf club, and Sharla how to get a hole in one.  Everyone had a fun time.  Thanks to all our courageous chaperones for help.

The summer has begun fantastically and we hope to maintain a successful response from VBS which will depend on the follow-up throughout the summer.  With your help we will make summer a blessing to children and families in our community.  Our kids and their leaders thank you for your support, love and encouragement.

In Him for the Kids,
Karen and Kathy

THANK YOU NOTES

Dear Woodlawn family,
Thanks for the wonderful reception for graduation, the Bible, the many cards & gifts, and for your support through the years!  It's great to have such a big, loving family!
Love,
Jeffrey Aaron Sparks

Dear Woodlawn,
I just wanted to write a quick note to thank you for the gifts, cards, party, encouragement and all the love you've shown me over the years.  You are truly my family, and I already miss you.  I've been visiting Northwest Church of Christ here, and I really like it.  I haven't gotten a steady job yet.  I'm moving into an apartment, so if you come to town, I'll put you up and show you around.  Once again, thank you all for everything.  I love you.
God bless,
Becky Davis

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Financial help is still needed for the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund.  Several will attend Pine Springs July 11-17, and they are working on projects with Brad to earn their scholarships.  Please give your donations to Brad or Barbara.  Make checks payable to Woodlawn Church of Christ and mark the memo space "camp scholarships."

This is the last week the crocheted dishrags will be available in the foyer for a donation of $1 each.  These funds go to the summer youth camp scholarship fund.

The Rhett Herron family is moving to Waco where he will attend Baylor, and she will work on a nursing degree.  Their last Sunday with us will be July 11 and there will be a Going Away Party after worship that evening.  So mark your calendars!  We will be presenting them with a money tree at that time.

CHANGE = CHANGE
Our participation in our COINS FOR KIDZ for Christian Homes/Christian Services does translate into such positive changes for so many babies and young children.  Cans are still available for everyone including our children!

What better way can you teach your children to share than by your example and letting them participate in this opportunity to give?  "Train a child in the way he should ..."
