ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL VBS!!

Well, it has been a great week in the life of the Woodlawn church body.  If any of us ever doubted that God has placed us in this community to be a mission point, I hope that our Vacation Bible School that just concluded has convinced you.

As I was teaching the words to Jesus Loves Me to one little boy, it occurred to me that these children and their families desperately need to hear that, yes, Jesus does love them.  We have been called as a congregation to spread the wonderful news of Jesus love to all those who live in our area.  There are thousands of people around us who have not heard or understood the treasure we have been entrusted with; the knowledge that Jesus is Lord and that true Life can only be found in Him.

Please do not think that our job is done this summer.  The work has just begun for this church.  Be willing to get involved with the follow-up efforts that will be directed toward the families of the children who came.  Commit to form friendships with these people so they can begin to see the impact Christ has made in your life, and they can begin to desire the same holy presence in their lives.  Be willing to open your homes or to fellowship with our new friends over meals.  Commit to reaching out to others the way Jesus did, through the building of relationships that show the goodness of God.  With His help we can be the very presence of Christ in Abilene this summer.

In Him,
Brad Sullivan

PRAYER CONCERNS

Joe Harper is not doing well and needs our prayers.  He is trying new pain meds.

Alfred Gadberry is now in Room 149 on Hall 6 at Coronado.

THANK YOU NOTES

We were overwhelmed with your out-pouring of love and kindness during Floyd's illness and now at his passing.  We appreciate everything and everybody.  You are the greatest.  The singing was beautiful and thank you, John, for leading it.
Love, Wanda and Ben

Woodlawn Church of Christ,
We do appreciate the cards, flowers, and other gestures of love to our mom during the years that she could not attend your services and the last seven months that she was confined to a nursing home.  The entire family enjoyed the home-cooked meal after her services.
Larry Rushing & Johan Green
(family of Pauline Rushing)

A HUGE THANK YOU to Karen Griffith and Kathy Redman for the basic planning, organizing, sweating, etc. that goes with a successful VBS.  And also kudos to everyone who put in time and effort in so many ways that cannot all be named.  Each of you was doing your part to spread the kingdom and God was glorified.  May we also be diligent to help with the follow-up outreach.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The VBS Follow-Up Outreach meeting is this afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Small Auditorium.  Anyone interested in helping with follow-up outreach is encouraged to attend.  Also please come if you have any good ideas about this outreach opportunity.

Congratulations to grandparents Eunice and Sonny Guild and Uncle Theron on the birth of Lily Renae on June 6 in Fort Worth.  She weighed 7 lb. 11 oz. and was 17 inches long.  Her parents are Chris and Tiffany Guild, big brother is Jordan, and a big sister is Eden.

Five large food pans are missing from the Fellowship Hall.  Please Return!!  Pans, cooking utensils, etc. are not to be taken from the Fellowship Hall without permission.

Financial help is still needed for the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund.  The youth will be attending Pine Springs July 11-17, and they are working on projects with Brad to earn their scholarships.  Please give your donations to Brad or Barbara.  Make checks payable to Woodlawn Church of Christ and mark the memo space "camp scholarships."

There are more crocheted dishrags available in the foyer for a donation of $1 each.  These funds also go to the summer camp youth scholarship fund.

Want to Help Children?  Take home a Christian Homes Change Can and deposit coins all summer.  Easy!!!

Members are being asked to give suggestions as to how Woodlawn can put into practice the idea of incarnational ministry in order to more effectively reach our community with the Gospel.  Write your ideas on paper and deposit them in the brown box on the west table in the foyer.  No names, please.
