Woodlawn Youth Ministry
As spring begins to show its pale green face upon the earth and as the sounds of lawnmowers once again fill the air, we are reminded that Easter is almost upon us. With the Easter weekend comes the Leadership Training for Christ conference for our young people. This year we have quite a few of our teens and pre-teens participating in this activity. LTC is a conference that allows the young people of our congregation to practice different ways of serving the Lord's body. For example, several of our young men have been practicing their public scripture reading for many weeks in preparation for LTC, and we are seeing some of the fruits of this practice in our very own church services! Our young ladies have not been idle either. They have been busy teaching Bible classes and preparing bulletin boards in many of the children's classes. Added to all of the above everyone's participation in preparing a puppet show, writing children's books, and participating in individual Bible study and quiet times, the youth of Woodlawn have been extremely busy during the last few months.
How can you help our young people as they endeavor to utilize their skills for the service of God's kingdom? Your encouragement is vital to this process. Seek out the young people at Woodlawn and ask them about what they have been doing for LTC. You as a church family have already been incredibly supportive of the young men that have participated in worship lately. Continue to seek out all our young men and women who are serving and offer them praise. It is good to be part of a family of God that is so committed to loving and nourishing its younger members.
Also be sure to thank the following adults who have committed their time to helping with LTC: Brian Castleberry, Phyllis Sparks, Paula Woods, Amy Watkins, Karen Griffith, Kathy Redman, Chad Longley, Ashley Francis, and also Dixie Mabry for her work with the Bible Bowl team. These and many others in this congregation are instrumental in showing our young people what it means to be men and women of God. May the Lord bless and keep us all.
