Being a Part of the Body
From time to time I like to pick up one of our weekly bulletins and scan the numbers in the "Statistics" column. One trend I see quite often is the difference in attendance between Morning Worship, Bible Class and Evening Worship. In general, only 60% of the congregation is coming to Bible Class and Evening Worship. This means that only a little over half the body is gathering for Bible study and worship in addition to the Sunday Morning assembly.
Please do not read this article and simply think, "Well, here comes a guilt-ridden message about attendance." Guilt is not the point, nor should it be the motivation. In fact, I have spoken with some that have very legitimate reasons for not being here.
My concern is with those who are missing out on what takes place when we get together as the family of God. My heart goes out to those who are missing the opportunities to experience a Christian life of purpose and passion. When we get together, something powerful takes place. Together, the Word of God transforms us and, together, we are called as missionaries in our world to share the Gospel. Together, we celebrate the joys and victories in life, and, together, we walk with each other when life getsrough and tragedy strikes. If you haven't been here lately for Bible Class and Evening Worship, please know that we miss you. My prayer is that together, Woodlawn will be the people God wants us to be.
Because of God's Grace,
Dwayne
