In Children’s church we are talking about God’s Love and “ME” love. We are encouraging the kids to use God’s love which is based on the scripture of I Corinthians 13:4-7. We are talking about each word used to describe love. When our kids show this love, it is the love God wants us to have. Me love is selfish love - putting your desires and wants first, then God, and others are last. It is very difficult to teach our children this concept when they live in a world that says put your needs first.
There are seminars that say, “Remember you are # one” so tell yourself this every day to build your confidence. Others say you must look out for number one because everyone else is. Our culture promotes self, “Have it your way”, “Just do it”, “When you got it flaunt it” “You deserve a break today” and so many more.
Listen to your children or yourself. How many times do you hear “I” or a reference to self in the conversation. Why is “Me” love so prevalent? Could it be because it is so close to home? It has lived in us since we were young. We must fight everyday to smother our “Me” love and put God’s love first. Will it be noticed? Yes. Some will think we are foolish and others will be shocked. Our children will notice too. This will help them understand what God wants them to do and to overcome their “Me” love.
Remember our love should be patient, kind, not envious, boastful, rude, self-seeking, or easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs or delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, trust, hopes and perseveres. This is the love that God and Christ share with us. We need to share this love with others.
Love,
Karen and Kathy

The Ronquillo’s need YOUR help!!
There is work to be done at Jeff and Donna’s new house that they were trying to have done so they could move in before the babies arrived. Jeff had been working so hard on this project before they had to go to the hospital in Ft. Worth. This is a wonderful ministry opportunity! Woodlawn has a list of things that need done. If you are willing to help with this project please see Mike Bailey or call the church office.
