NOTHING

“Nothing” is a word with several meanings.  You call someone and ask, “What are you doing?”  Sometimes the response is “Nothing” which means I am bored.  A child is quiet and a parent asks, “What are you doing?”  The child responds quietly, “Nothing” which means I am up to something.  A coworker asks “What are you going to do on your days off?”  We respond “Nothing” which means you are going to avoid major projects and put your feet up.  When you are asked for the fifth time “What’s for supper?”  “Nothing” is the reply because you’re tired of being asked the same question over and over again.  When ask “What kind of food do you have in the house?”  The reply is “Nothing” which means there is some food but I do not want to fix dinner.  Nothing can be used to respond to many questions in life but in our Christian life, should we use this answer to God?  When God asks you at the end of time “What have you done for me?”  Do we want to say “Nothing”?  Do we want to tell him “There was nothing for me to do?” or “I could have done something, but I did not know anything about something, so nothing was done.”  Remember when you say nothing to God, it means nothing.

Let’s remember next time when we need something; think about how much you have done for God.  When you give nothing, then nothing is given in return.  When nothing is all you have then it leaves your life very empty.  Let’s be generous to others and to ourselves by filling our lives by doing something, anything and everything for God.

Kinney Mabry continues to slowly improve.  Please continue to keep him and his family in your prayers.

Zach Griffith is now back at his house and the pain is still there, however not as great.

Bart Crisman’s knee and wrist surgery will be on the 31st.

Bill Gibson has torn ligaments in his knee and will have surgery.

Brenda Gamboa is going through some medical treatments and needs prayers.

Frank Demblowski, Glenn Bailey’s brother-in-law, has been diagnosed with a tumor of undetermined nature in his nasal/pharynx cavity and neck.  He will undergo further tests to determine if it is malignant or not.

Jodie Leverett will be having back surgery on the 24th at the Spinal Hospital in San Antonio.

Abby VanCleave, 11-year-old classmate of Courtney Shields, was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer.

Announcements

If any ice exists on roads, sidewalks, or parking lots, the church building will be locked for that service.  If any doubts exist if we are going to meet, look for notice on the television or website.  You may also contact any staff member or elder.  The telephone tree will be in effect as well.

For those interested: there is free tax preparation help for those making under $35,000.  The details are posted on the hall bulletin board concerning the times and five locations.

Medina Children’s Home is once again asking us to collect (canned) Ravioli or Spaghettio’s to help fill their pantry.  The truck will be here to pick up the items on the last week in March.
