God's Family
Wednesday night we talked about families and about how we are part of a bigger family. We are in God’s family. God is our father and Christ is our older brother. Our young ones were surprised to discover this new family, but this should be no surprise to us. We should know that our family spreads throughout the world and many people are included. The family of God not only includes Woodlawn, but all children who are members of Christ’s body. What this means is the person you see driving down the street could be part of God’s family. The person waiting on you in a restaurant could be a member of our family. The telemarketer on the phone could be our family.
Now we need to think about how we are treating our family. Are we kind? Are we patient? Do we care about how they are feeling? Do we help make things better or do we complain? Do we appreciate each other and support the work God’s family is trying to accomplish? If we say something, we should say it in love like we would to our child, spouse, or parents. Spend time with God’s family, share with them, and let’s work together. We want our family to grow and that involves work. When a family works together the job is easier and enjoyable. If you have a spat with your brother, talk it over in love as you would with your immediate family. You don’t hold a grudge against your blood brother, why should you against your Christian brother? Let us remember to love and encourage each other always. Remember God loves his children, and your brother Christ died for you. Let us spread that love to all and work on making our family grow. Won’t we have a grand family reunion in heaven? Please don’t miss out on attending when that time comes!
Your sisters, Karen and Kathy

Woodlawn “Trunk or Treat”
On October 31st 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. there will be a community contact event in the midst of traditional activities happening around our neighborhood. Your participation and contribution is greatly needed to help in making a visible presence and impact during this special event.
NEEDED:
Lots, and Lots of candy, treats, etc. for distribution to neighborhood children and families as we get the opportunity to meet and greet them passing through our parking lot.
Willing people present with their vehicles to receive visitors, meet and greet, and distribute candy, treats, etc.
We will be set up in the parking lot to make ourselves known and to be available to the community as a congregation who desires to connect with those we desire to reach in the way we are called. There will be hot dogs for participants and visitors and, of course, an opportunity to fellowship with one another while we join in this outreach effort. Plan to be there, but for now, just keep bringing the “goodies”.
THERE WAS A HUGE RESPONSE LAST YEAR AND WE EXPECT THE SAME OR BETTER THIS YEAR.
BE LISTENING FOR MORE DETAILS AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE.
