Clarity of Vision

"While life lasts, I am an evangelist" is a quote from John R. Mott, a great evangelist and supporter of missions.  His was a very clear vision about his identity and mission.  The church is blessed and individual Christians are blessed when they live with a CLEAR vision.

Each of us knows what it is to have good eyesight.  Those who appreciate it most are those who struggle with problems that affect their vision.  Clear vision brings the ability to live life with greater vigor and joy.

Our daily life needs a clarity of vision and purpose.  Paul said that we are ambassadors for Christ.  What good is an ambassador if he/she does not understand the clear purposes of the nation he/she represents in relation to the nation to which he/she has been sent?  Clarity is everything.  One of Satan's great tools is to produce a fog, so to speak, that obstructs our vision.

This is the season that the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.  One of the realities of Jesus' life is that he came with and lived with a clarity of vision.  The threats of Herod could not cloud the heavenly vision.  The temptations of Satan did not woo him from the clarity of his calling.  He KNEW why he came.  He embraced his call.

The Christian has a purpose.  Our purpose relates to the fact that we are still in the world, the world that needs Jesus.  Good News needs to be announced.  Light needs to penetrate darkness.  Retreat is not a possibility for a people who have a clear vision of their call.  Jesus came.  Jesus said, "Follow me."  While life lasts, follow him!  Where ever and how ever that is played out, follow him!
