TIME GOES BY...

In my time here at Woodlawn, I have learned so many things about God's Church that I never really realized in the past.  Being in a ministry position allows one to see all the "stuff" that goes on in the Church.

Surprisingly enough I found out that the Church is not perfect, and this was the biggest lesson I've learned.  There are so many controversies and trials going on in people's lives right now that it seems there is no way the Church can survive with such broken people.

What I have found out is...God uses broken people.  All throughout the Bible we see example after example where God uses an imperfect or broken person to carry out His plan.  Take people like Moses, Rahab, Jonah, Judas, Paul for example.  If you're down in the dumps about not being perfect, "Hey join the crowd!"

I want to leave you with this saying that I used at Pine Springs this past year when talking about discipleship: "God doesn't ask us to be perfect Christians, but he calls us to be imperfect Disciples."  May the Lord bless your day and week!

Because of Christ,
Elijah Godfrey

News from the Education Committee...
A few months ago, surveys were handed out as a way for you to give input on the content and structure of our Bible classes.  Thanks to your willing participation, the Education Committee has been prayerfully considering the following changes to the Wednesday night classes:

  1. Beginning on January 7, Wednesday Bible classes will not be separated by age, but by topic (which will encourage different ages to attend classes together).
  2. Four topical classes will be offered: (1) Christian Evidences, (2) The Gospel of Matthew, (3) Nurturing the Christian Family, (4) "The Red Court of Hope."  More details will be coming soon.
  3. Beginning on January 7, our Wednesday devotional in the Large Auditorium will move to the end of class time, with Bible classes beginning at 7:00 p.m. and the devotional beginning at 7:50 p.m.
