Worship

Worship is from our innermost re-belonging to God as we step into His allowed presence and overflow our heart, mind, and soul.  This worship is not only acceptable by God - it is pleasing to Him.

Can we stop and be still for a moment?  Is it possible for us to know something other than our weekly experiences in shifting our entire being to our Father?  I pray that you have walked through the doors of this church with a desperate need to worship your creator and most beloved in your re-belonging to the one and only.  God would like this moment to be the highlight of you worshipping Him all week as you are with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Have a seat, look around, take a breath and absorb his goodness as you realize the wonderful choice you have made to be here.  Close your eyes, feel the joy, and know the love of God for you at this very moment.  Open your hearts, let your voice go, and surrender yourself to God because … you finish what God has done among us.  Respond by opening your mind, taking in His Holy Word, and letting it permeate your life, family, and all those you will be around.  Allow the Word of God into your life like a smoke filled room.  Let it change you into the likeness of Jesus.  Remember and know Jesus as you consume the symbols of His body and blood.

Know why, where, and how Jesus is and can be in your life.  Know that He will come again.  Be assured that He must love you deeply.  Locate His work in your life.  Hope how Christ will impact you next week.

Come, let us worship the Holy one in truth and spirit neither here nor there, but right now.

Mike Bailey

THANK YOU NOTES

Dear Woodlawn Christians,
Thank you very much for your shower of greeting cards, the beautiful plant, with many best wishes.  The telephone calls really were thoughtful.
In Christian Love, Gertrude Holder

I would like to say ‘thank you’ to all those who helped make the Woodlawn Church of Christ Youth Group Halloween Party Extravaganza a big success!  Thank you for bringing food and drinks, and especially to Carol Hall, Phyllis Sparks, Jim and Cara Hill, and Viola Hopkins who came early and stayed late to help with the party!  The youth group cannot function without your support, and we (of the youth group) really do appreciate everything you do for us.  There are always ways to get involved, and if you would like to do so, please get in touch with me.
Thanks again!
David Taylor and The Woodlawn Youth Group

To God be the glory!
And many heartfelt thank you's to all who contributed to the HUGELY SUCCESSFUL Trunk-R-Treat community contact effort by donating goodies, funds,  and through generous sacrifices of time, energy, and caring outreach with your presence at the event.  The response was tremendous (in the several hundreds) and will help to build the groundwork for future outreach efforts in our immediate neighborhood.  Many have already begun suggesting ways that this might be even MORE intentionally outreach oriented next year.  Again, thank you for your faith and commitment to Woodlawn outreach in our community and may God continue to bless us in our continuing efforts to do the work we are called to do.

Deacon - Outreach/Monday Night for the Master

Congratulations to Edith McMillan and Garland Cranfill for their great work this past year at the Christian Service Center.  At our recent Volunteers Appreciation Luncheon, Edith was honored for her 229 hours of service and Garland for his 137 hours of service.  They both have done a tremendous job in our food pantry.  We look forward to Edith's continued work with us and will deeply miss Garland, who felt the need to step down from volunteering here.  We'll miss you, Garland!
