Bind Us Together

Quilt making.  What does it do for a family when many are involved?  Just ask the 16 children and 7 adults who had a hand in making the quilt that is beautifully displayed in our foyer.  It took all of us working together as a family.  We joined our talents and thoughts to create such a "family jewel" as this one.

We wanted the kids to have first hand experience in making something that they could be proud of.  As we watch each child show where their hand print and drawing is, we can see the love of God's family shining through.  Involving the young and the young at heart together as a family in an activity such as this one only strengthens us as a Christian family.

The handprints represent helping hands.  One square can't make the whole quilt.  It takes all of us together working as a family.

Check out the pre-school hall to see our picture gallery of Summer 2003 activities.  Watch for announcements as we plan an activity for a Fall Festival.

In Him for the children,
Karen & Kathy

Becky Stacy, daughter of Flossie Ashworth, remains in Hendrick Rehab 2011.

Gregoria and John Moreno will go to San Antonio this week for treatment for John’s newly diagnosed malignant leg tumors.

The Stelding and Norman families request prayers for Wylene Norman’s brother-in-law, Robert Norman, who had heart bypass surgery Friday afternoon in Amarillo.

We pray for travel safety for Sonny and Eunice Guild as they attend a Sukuma supporters meeting in Murfreesboro, TN.  They will greet the Slates for us, as they work with the congregation which supports Eric Guild’s work with the Sukuma tribe in Africa.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PLEASE NOTICE!
Recently the elders made known that they would be experimenting with some changes in order to facilitate a better worship experience for the Woodlawn family.  It has been decided that, in the near future, a section in the rear part of the auditorium will be roped off to encourage members to sit closer to the front and to one another.

The monthly Deacon’s Meeting is today at 3:30 p.m. in the Deacon’s Office.

Gary Mabry will be the speaker for the Sunday evening worship service.

Things purchased for the church and designed to be used at the building have been "borrowed" and not yet returned.  These include a Fall Cornucopia Centerpiece for the foyer table and several tablecloths made to fit the tables in the Fellowship Hall.  If you have them at your home or know where they are "stashed" here at the building, please help with their return as soon as possible.  They are needed!

The Abilene Taylor-County Public Health District will offer low-cost flu and pneumonia immunizations on Friday, Oct. 17 and Monday, Oct 27 at the Abilene Civic Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both dates.

Jewel Crisman has moved to Room 55 at Spring Season Nursing Center.

PLEASE STAY AS OUR GUESTS!

Today! Pay-up day for friends Sunday!
A special contribution will be taken this morning to help pay for the cost of a very successful Friends Sunday.  A HUGE THANKS to Bill and Dolores Flatt and Flo Henderson who cooked the cakes, beans and cornbread in order to keep the cost as low as possible, and to the “kitchen crew” who helped serve.  Cost for brisket, sausage, potato salad, slaw & “fixin’s” was about $4.25 per person.  That’s a very low price for a great meal.  If you can’t afford to pay, that’s okay.  If you can pay for yourself and a guest or two, that’s great.  Any amount given over the cost of the dinner will be used to help pay the cost of MNFTM meals.
Our thanks, The Elders
