WOODLAWN YOUTH MINISTRY

A NEW SEMESTER!
Well, the summer is officially over for our teenagers and they have already begun another exciting school year.  The lives of these teenagers are becoming busier and busier everyday.  Many of them are getting involved in sports, band, ROTC, academic teams, drama; you name it, they’re doing it.  Not only are things exciting and busy at school, but here at church also.  This semester the teenagers are really getting after it in class.  On Sunday mornings, the teens are going through a Prison Epistles Series with Al Watkins.  On Wednesday nights they are traveling through a series called VELOCITY.  During this series the teenagers will learn about how to deal with certain issues that they face in everyday life - drugs, alcohol, identity, etc.  Also on the first Wednesday night of every month, the teenagers will be engaging in a "Block Prayer."  We will load up in the van and go to different streets surrounding our church building and pray for the people on those streets.  This will be an exciting time to get out and bring God to our community.  Please keep them in your prayers as they draw closer to one another and to our Lord.

FALL RETREAT 2003
Please keep our teenagers in your prayers as they travel to Lake Brownwood this weekend for an exciting time with brothers and sisters from other congregations to celebrate a weekend with our Lord.

Because of Christ,
Elijah

PRAYER CONCERNS

Alfred Gadberry will be having a heart cath on Wednesday.

His daughter, Barbara Smith, remains in Hendrick ICU.

We give thanks that Cheryl Travers’ medical tests showed no heart problems(Hood’s daughter).  We want to remember Buck and Bonnie and also Dick and Juanelle Lago as they travel in the northeast this month.

THANK YOU NOTES

To all my friends at Woodlawn,
I would like to thank you for the pot plant sent after my sister’s death.  It cheered me up a lot.  It is very thoughtful of you.  Many thanks!
Minnie and the Hall family

Brothers and Sisters…
Thank you for sharing Christ’s love with us and being involved in our lives and the birth of Riley Nathaniel.  The meals, visits, support, and prayers were and still are deeply appreciated.
Dwayne, Julie, & Riley Hilty

Just a Note-
Last Sunday’s Supper ‘N Song - a little bit of heaven brought to us by song leaders: Bill Spann (also MC), Joey Roberts, Jeff Houghton, Sonny Guild and Al Watkins.  To our good kitchen crew who set-up and cleaned-up, too - we appreciate you!
-All 72 of us!

Praise God for Your Service!
On behalf of Woodlawn’s College & Young Adult Ministry, thank you to everyone who helped to make this year’s Welcome Dinner on August 27 a huge success.  By God’s grace and your service, outreach and love were shown in Jesus’ name.
Dwayne Hilty

The McCowan family sends heartfelt thanks for the sympathy, comfort and services given by the church here.  The whole message is on the bulletin board across from the office.

William Mather has sent a long letter of appreciation, which will be published in the Wednesday evening announcements.  If you won’t be here, have somebody save you one.

A thank you was received from the Christian Service Center for a donation from Betty Kennamer given in honor of Woodlawn.  "She obviously loves you very much."

A letter from the Medina Children’s Home thanked us for our continuing support.
