WOODLAWN INVOLVEMENT MINISTRY
2003 STUDENT WELCOME DINNER
It is that time of year again when students return from summer vacations (that were probably too short) and the city of Abilene once again becomes a booming metropolis for college and university students. By God’s guidance and blessing, on Wednesday, August 27 at 6:00 p.m. we will host our annual Student Welcome Dinner. Each year the dinner serves as an excellent way of bringing new and returning students and young adults to Woodlawn to share a meal together, allow them to see our college & young adult ministry, and meet members from the congregation. This year, we are prayerfully setting our sights high in hopes of bringing 100 college students to spend time with us in fellowship and praise of our magnificent God.
Here’s where you come in as a faithful member at Woodlawn. In order to make this event happen, we need you. Please stroll by the sign-up sheet located on a table in the church foyer, and write your name under a food item that we will need on the night of the dinner. And, just as important, please plan on hanging around at the fellowship hall to meet and greet students and young adults, and, of course, feel free to join us as we praise God in song and open up his word. Together, we can share God’s covenant love as we reach out to college and university students from ACU, Cisco Junior College, and Texas State Technical College.

A note from Charles Stelding:
Soon I’ll report on the mission project of helping start a new church in Germany. Missionary Dwane Perry writes,
"We can report several Bible studies underway. Most began this summer as a result of the work of Let’s Start Talking teams. After they returned home, Mark Martin, Molly and I divided the list of about 23 names, many of whom had already begun Bible studies with the LST groups. Each of us will work to continue the studies, as well as develop relationships looking for an appropriate opportunity to begin a discussion about faith issues. The LST teams have been a great source of encouragement. Unfortunately, I don‘t think we were appropriately prepared for the LST group when they arrived. Praise God that through His blessing, the training and diligence of the first team, and the continued effort of the 2nd team, the effort surfaced quite a number of contacts and began 11 Bible studies.

All ladies of the congregation are invited to come enjoy the study and eat lunch out with the group the second Wednesday of each month. Since the 10th is the second Wednesday in September, we’ll plan to have lunch out together after that first meeting.
