WOODLAWN CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

The kids had a wonderful time serving their teachers at the Teachers Appreciation Luncheon.  They were excited to make a gift for their teachers the day before.  One of the students came up to us and excitedly exclaimed, "I get to be a servant!"

We've seen many servants this summer helping with our children.  The luncheon could not have happened without many servants who provided food and worked in the kitchen.  The teens who pitched in to help the smaller children were also servants.

Last weekend, we ventured out into the heat and the woods to spend the night at the State Park.  Our elementary age children had a great time as we learned about being "Imitators of Christ."  This was a first time for several of them to sleep under the stars.  The pre-schoolers joined us the next morning for Squaw Bread and Pooh Butter for breakfast.  Thank you for the courageous volunteers who met the challenge of 13 elementary kids and 5 pre-schoolers: Dwayne, Julie, Shane, Carla, Zach, Sarah, Misti, and Donna.

Saturday, August 16, the Children's Ministry will close the summer with a trip to Gymnastic Sport Center.  Mark your calendars!  Without the many volunteers and servants to help with VBS, Terrific Tuesdays, County Fair, Appreciation Luncheon, and our camp-out, we would not have been able to pull it off.  We send you a HUGE THANK YOU and a BIG HUG!

Your servants,
Karen and Kathy

Gary Sanders’ eye surgery is postponed.

Ethel Waldrip’s 33 year-old grandson, Nathan, is doing well in Dallas after a treatment to reduce a tumor on his brain stem.  But her teenage great-niece, Stephanie O’Neal, died last Sunday in Nacona, TX as a result of an auto accident.  Her funeral was Thursday.

Gregoria Moreno will be returning to San Antonio for further cancer treatments Aug. 22.  Her sister, Celia Berrera, has been diagnosed with breast cancer here in Abilene.

THANK YOU NOTES

Thank you all so much for the beautiful ivy plant you sent when my daddy passed away.

To the children of the congregation, Kathy, Karen and all who helped,
How much we appreciated our Teacher’s Appreciation Banquet!  You did a wonderful job.  Thank you!
Dorothy Minor

Woodlawn, Thank you for the lovely plant, delicious meals, and friendly visits.  your love and kindness mean so much.
We love all of you!

Dear, Dear church,
This cheque is for Sarah Bailey’s work.  I honor you for standing behind her as her church family.  It is rather like Philippi and Paul.  (We are studying Philippians on Sunday evenings.)  We had a good time with the Spanns recently, and it made me long to see many at the Woodlawn church.  We love you!  May our God who gives hope fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in Him.  Then your hope will overflow by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Rom. 15:13
