Woodlawn Children's Ministry

The summer is passing by quickly.  We have been so excited with the turn out of the many events we have been having!  Our first Super Saturday was a huge success and loads of fun.  See the pictures in the hall next to our office.  Terrific Tuesdays have had great attendance.  Abby Longley hosted the first one.  You will find a display of spiders they made in the hallway of the pre-school classrooms.  Joanna Martin hosted the second one for pre-schoolers in the morning.  Sixteen were in attendance, including visitors who had a wonderful time.  That evening, the elementary kids showed us how to putt a ball or two.  This week Carla Copher directed the children in making delicious Blueberry loaves for the ministry staff and elders.

Yesterday was the VBS Reunion "County Fair."  Many people volunteered their time in helping with this event.  THANK YOU!  This is a community outreach that will, hopefully, encourage people to come worship with us.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed time and effort in helping us with the Children's Ministry.  With you help, we have made it to be a successful summer so far.  It's not over yet!  Many activities are planned and you are encouraged to join in on the fun.

"Let the children come to me and do not hinder them.  The kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matt. 19:14)

Mission Work Week
July 28 - August 2

The young people will be working with Habitat for Humanity in addition to other service projects in our community.  Be sure to leave your pledge card (financial and/or prayers) in the blue box in the foyer to show your support for the teens as they work for the Lord this summer.

Thank You

I would like to thank each one that sent cards, called, came and brought food and gifts.  I'm learning to stop and smell the roses.

Announcements

CONGRATULATIONS to Cathrine and Jason Clements on the birth of their daughter, Aynslee Caroline, Tuesday July 8.  She weighed 6 lb. 15 1/2 oz. and was 19 inches long.  The surprised parents are doing well after Aynslee decided to make her debut 2 weeks early.  They went home Friday.

OOPS! So sorry that the wrong information was relayed to the church office.  Chrissy and Rachel Lau are still in Penang and will be arriving in Portland, OR on July 23 to visit the Parker family there.  They will be coming to Abilene sometime the second week in August.

We look forward to seeing Sarah Bailey later this month!  Click here to read a letter from Sarah.

Those who would like to participate in the love offering for Pat Stephenson may give their gifts to Barbara or one of the elders.  Make checks payable to Woodlawn.  Please do this by Sunday (20th) at the latest.

Christian Homes is looking for a qualified adoption caseworker.  Details are posted on the bulletin board across from the office.
