Woodlawn Youth Ministry

AS THE SUMMER ROLLS ON many events just seem to keep piling up for the youth group.  In only one week a group of 5 students will be heading off to New Mexico for Pine Springs Summer Camp.  I ask that you keep Rob, Briana, Jasmine, Zelmon, and Jeremy in your prayers as they look to become closer to our loving and caring God.

For most youth groups, their "main event" is always Summer Mission Trip.  Well, the teenagers here at Woodlawn are starting to prepare for their very own Mission Work Week, which will be held at the end of this month.  The teenagers will be engaging in different service projects throughout the community here in Abilene.  They will have the opportunity to assist in building a house for a needy family, mow yards, and maybe even do some painting.  The theme for this year's MWW is "Slave of All."  For the duration of the week, the youth group will get together each night to discuss that day's work and dig into the scriptures to see what Jesus has to say about service.  Be looking in the near future for ways that you can be involved in this Mission Work Week.  Please keep these students in your prayers daily.

Because of Crist,
Elijah

"Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20:26-28

Ladies' Salad Supper

Monday, July 7
7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall
Bring a salad or dessert.

The younger ladies have asked that the older share some their "life skills."  (artistry, needlework, cooking, raising kids, etc.)  There will be a planning-discussion session to determine how that can come about in a practical way.

All ladies, come enjoy the fellowship!

VBS REUNION

Saturday, July 12, 10 a.m.-12 noon

This will be set up as a "County Fair".  There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer for each of the booths and stations that need to be manned.
Come to the County Fair!
It will be great fun for the whole family!

Thank You

Thank you so much for the basket of fresh flowers.  They are really pretty.  Thank you for all of the visits & cards.  I hope I don't have to go back to the hospital any time soon.  And more than anything, thank you for all your prayers.  Thanks for everything,
Evelyn & Garland Cranfill

Oh, Woodlawn family!  The cards, calls and prayers are so appreciated.  All your expressions of love are just wonderful.  I promise to try hard to stop doing things like this!
Love, Lurleen
