Woodlawn Children's Ministry

Thanks!
I just want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with the precious children of Woodlawn.  They have brought such joy to my life, and they have taught me many life lessons.

I am very excited that Karen and Kathy will be taking over the children’s ministry.  It is an important part of the church and a vital part of our future.  I will still be here and I plan to stay actively involved.  I appreciate and am thankful for the gifts each one of you shares with Woodlawn.
     For Christ,
     Amy

Prayer Concerns

Mary Emerson had a good report from her Thursday angiogram - no blockage!

Remember Rebecca Holloway who asked us to pray for her in her struggles and upcoming life decisions.

Sympathy

We are saddened to learn that former member, Bill Wilkinson, now of Anson, passed away at the Veteran’s Hospital in Big Spring early Thursday morning.  His funeral was held yesterday afternoon.

Thanks

We members of the Woodlawn family would like to thank Amy for all her hard work and enthusiasm in helping our children learn.  She has been a faithful example to them by showing love and acceptance as Christ has loved and accepted us.  Thank you, Amy.  We wish you God’s speed as you continue to serve Him.

To the Woodlawn church, Ladies’ Bible Class & to all our Christian family, Thank you for all the concern, prayers and food.  Thank you, Jesus, for our family in Woodlawn.  We will always remember your sympathy and thoughtfulness.
John & Gregoria Moreno and family

To my family at Woodlawn, Thank you so much for the graduation celebration you gave for the college graduates - it was so wonderful!  It has been a blessing to be a part of the family at Woodlawn and I am thankful for each one of you.  You will be missed!  Thanks for everything!
Leah McCoy

Thura Piedmont sends greetings to everyone at Woodlawn (through the Lees who visited her last week in Dallas).  She misses all and really appreciates the cards and calls from the members here.  She would like for people to come visit her.

Announcements

Today is the last day for the "Cookie Jar Shower" honoring the marriage of Jerry Oden and Melissa Stanford.  Look for the cookie jar on the table in the foyer and add money, your favorite recipe, or your best wishes for this couple.

Everyone be sure to pick up your corrected pictorial directory information sheet from a table in the foyer.  All members of the Woodlawn congregation are entitled to a pictorial directory whether you were here for the photo portion or not.  If you have not picked up your copy, give Barbara a call in the office and we‘ll arrange for you to get it at the next worship service.  Or feel free to stop by the office during the week.

Check the bulletin board across from the office for times and details of invitations to the Stephen’s wedding reception and various high school graduations.

WARNING!!
Several have received the following telephone message: "Due to unfortunate incidents, Seniors like yourself on fixed income have been caught in tight situations.  For more information, please press 9."  If you get this message, hang up immediately!  If you press 9, you open your telephone line to people who can make long distance calls anywhere in the world for any length of time, and the charges will appear on your telephone bill.

PLAN AHEAD FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 1
On Sunday, June 1, we will have a Potluck Luncheon followed by a "Family Conversation" to update everyone on current events and plans and to get constructive input and ideas.  This will be followed by a brief devotional.  There will be no 5 p.m. service.

We are in needed of teachers for the nursery and the 2 & 3 year-old class on Sunday mornings.  If you are interested, please contact Karen, Kathy or Amy.

The parents of
Leah Marie McCoy and Jason Dean Stephens
would like to invite you to a reception
celebrating the marriage of their children.
The reception will be held on Saturday,

at three o'clock in the afternoon
at Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas.
Reception will follow small family wedding ceremony.

COMMITMENT

Christians consider themselves committed to Christ.  But what does that mean?  Consider one man’s exhortation:

"God is looking for men and women whose hearts are firmly fixed on Him and who will continually trust Him for all he desires to do with their lives.

God is ready and eager to work more powerfully than ever through His people, and the clock of the centuries is striking the eleventh hour.  The world is watching and waiting to see what God can do through a life committed to Him.

And not only is the world waiting but God himself awaits to see who will be the most completely devoted person who has ever lived; willing to be nothing so Christ may be everything; fully accepting God's purposes as his own; receiving Christ's humility, faith, love, and power yet never hindering God's plan but always allowing Him to continue His miraculous work." C.H.P - Streams in the Desert

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus .. .. ..
