Stained Glass
I was sitting in the Chapel on the Hill at ACU the other day, thinking about color and light and how great the stained glass windows looked, when I realized that without light shining through the panes the windows would be black and lifeless. The windows are only colorful because the light that shines through them has as many and more colors than are contained in the glass. It's strange to me that I miss how beautiful light is even though I see it every day. I get annoyed by its intensity in the summer, I miss it at night, and sometimes I wonder at the beauty of it in the Abilene sunsets, but it takes a stained glass window to bring out just a part of the splendor of something that is always there.
I think maybe there's an analogy here. There is a great danger in getting so comfortable with the thought of Christ and our own salvation that we really miss how beautiful He and His work in the world really are. Sometimes it takes seeing His work through the prism of the deaf who hear, the lame who walk, the poor to whom good news is preached, and the dead who are raised, to really understand how great and wonderful the savior is that we serve, and how many and mighty are His works.
It was really interesting to me that as I was walking out of the chapel I met a blind man.
"Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did!" (John 4:29)

Dear Woodlawn Family,
I will be working full-time with the youth group this summer, and because my lease expires at the end of May, I am looking for a place to live from then until the middle of August. I have talked to the elders, and they suggested that I ask you, the congregation, if anyone would be willing to lend a room to me for the summer. I am willing to pay rent, and I will provide my own meals. If you are interested, please contact me at (979) 777-6579, or just talk to me next time we meet.
Thanks, and God bless,
David Taylor
