Woodlawn Campus Ministry

2003 24-Hour Prayer Vigil:
As you read this bulletin article, we will be only five short days away from beginning our 2nd annual 24-Hour Prayer Vigil from Friday, March 21 at 3:00 p.m. until Saturday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m.  Not only will there be numerous prayer requests to be prayed over (prayer request cards can be found on the table in the foyer), but our prayers will be specifically focused on praying for the Reign of God in us as individuals and in the Woodlawn church.

Have you signed-up for a prayer slot yet?  Your participation is vitally needed if we are going to make 24 continuous hours of prayer a reality.  And it’s really pretty easy.  Simply write your name under a 15-minute prayer slot (or more if you like) and then show up at the church at your designated time on March 21 or 22.  When you come to pray, 2-3 prayer coordinators will greet you and provide coffee and other snacks for you when you’ve finished praying.

Spring Retreat:
And college students and young adults, our 2003 Spring Retreat is quickly approaching.  The dates are Friday, April 11 to Sunday, April 13, so make sure and sign-up to reserve your place.  You won’t want to miss out.

   Yours for Him,
   Dwayne

Thanks

All my heartfelt thanks to my wonderful Woodlawn family for the beautiful plant as well as all the cards, visits and especially the prayers which helped pull me through my last double bout with pneumonia.  I am feeling stronger now and getting accustomed to my new residence.
The Lord bless each of you,
     Helena Orr

Announcements

Ray and Linda Oden announce the engagement of their son, Jerry, to Melissa Stanford.  The wedding date is scheduled for May 24, 2003 in San Antonio.

The Story of Daniel - VBS will be here before we know it, June 16-19.  Besides teachers, volunteers are needed for classroom assistants, registration, nursery care, help in the kitchen, driving or riding as an assistant in the vans and providing homemade ice cream on Thursday.  The sign-up sheet for all these jobs is on the east wall in the foyer.  Classes will be provided for ages 2 years through the 6th grade on June 16-18.  Then Thursday the 19th, there will be an Open House with homemade ice cream.  Plan come to work and/or attend a class.  There’s something for everyone to do to reach out to those of our community who need to know about God.

Congratulations to Linda and Larry Willeford who have a grandson, Kolter Tylon, born Thursday, Mar. 13 to Ty and Amanda Willeford of Haskell.  He weighed 8 lb. 5 oz. and was 20 1/2 in. long. Amanda had a cesarean section, but she and the baby are doing well!

LOOKING AHEAD!!
Again this year, we will be privileged to have the Lubbock Christian University Praise Choir here at Woodlawn.  On Sunday, April 13, they will present our evening worship service.  Mark you calendars and plan to bring your friends.  After the service we will provide the choir with a sandwich & finger food meal after which they will continue on their way back to Lubbock.

WOODLAWN 101 - COMING UP!
A one-hour class will be offered on Monday, March 31, in conjunction with the Monday Night for the Master meeting.  It is designed for newly baptized members and those who have recently placed membership or are thinking about placing membership.  After having a meal in the Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m., the participants will spend a time becoming better acquainted with Woodlawn through explanation of our mission statement, introduction of the leadership and opportunities for service in various programs and activities, and even include a tour of the buildings.  If you know of someone who is interested in knowing more about Woodlawn, please feel free to invite them to come on March 31.  Please register them with Dwayne or Barbara before then.
