Priorities

The most important things in our life remain alongside the lesser important things all the time.  We are a vessel containing the experiences and objectives of our personal, family, and social lives.  We have things to do and places to be every minute of the day and night.  We know of priorities and preferences, because those are the tools that we use to make choices.

Another tool that we use to determine what we do is who we are to those around us.  I am a father and a husband, so I use that priority to enjoy spending time with my family over other things.  I am also a friend, so I love being around other people.  I am a son, brother, uncle, and other descriptions to the people around me.  Those experiences lock us into doing certain things, because that is our identity.

We are gladly responsible to those around us with our time and efforts, because we have a mutual covenant.  We cannot spend all our time doing the most important, because the other things will suffer.  There is one exception and God’s omnipresence empowers us to be with him during all other things.  We can put him as the most important priority in our life alongside other things within our vessel of time and task sharing.

This way of thought has one side affect and that is a calling that must be satisfied only through devoting moments of your week to prayer, praise, and worship only.  I am saying that if you spend time with God all week, you will crave the times on Sunday and Wednesday in fellowship with others doing the same thing.  God has that effect, because he is our Father and we are his children.  Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40.

These verses will be helpful: John 6:58, Matthew 10:38, 19:27, Hebrews 10:25,
Acts 2:42-47.
