CAMPUS MINISTRY

The spring semester is quickly approaching (actually tomorrow). And with a new semester, come new opportunities for campus ministry at Woodlawn.  We’ll miss a few familiar faces, such as Geoff Carroll (doing an internship with Focus on the Family in Colorado), Becky Davis (doing an internship in Guadalajara, Mexico), and Alanya Cleaves (now living in Germany with her husband who is in the military).  Feel free to check out the Campus Ministry board in the church foyer for our latest events.  In the meantime, here are just a few things going on:

  • Doulos Fridays – Just like last semester, we’ll use the first Friday of every month for a group service project in the community or around the church.
  • Friday Night Activities – On the other Friday nights during the semester, you can count on bowling, volleyball at Sonic, game nights, or just hanging out.
  • Adopt-a-Student Program – It’s never too late to adopt a college student or young adult. Plan on getting the latest info from Carla & Shane Copher soon.
  • Sunday Night Love (SNL) – Interested in hosting the Campus Ministry for an evening of singing and fellowship? Our first SNL will be Jan. 19 and follow every other week.

Yours for Him,
Dwayne

PRAYER CONCERNS

The Showalters are needing our prayers.  Faye has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and has been taking shots for pain.  She will have tests with a rheumatologist Feb. 4 to determine further treatment.  Bruce, who was laid off several months ago, continues to look for bookkeeping/ accountant-type work.  Any help you can give them as far as job leads or Avon orders will be very welcome.

John Moreno had heart-related tests Friday morning and will get results next week.

Garland Cranfill will be undergoing tests Wednesday morning to find the cause of his recent mini-stroke and dizziness.

Mst. Sergeant Zelmon Woods, Sr. (Woody) will be leaving tomorrow for six weeks of special training in Montgomery, Alabama.  After that he will be in Abilene for a month before leaving for his year-long assignment in Korea.

LADIES CLASS BEGINS NEW STUDY

The Wednesday morning ladies’ class will begin a new study on January 15.  Lessons in a class discussion format from the booklet "What Will Your Answer Be?" will be presented by various teachers during this winter/spring quarter.  Each lesson handles questions that Jesus asked and the discussion will cover how we today would answer these questions.  Two work projects are also planned, and the class usually goes to eat lunch together after class once a month.  All ladies are invited to be a part of this exciting study.  Come enjoy the discussion and fellowship with Christian sisters Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. in Room 19.
